Karen’s passion for philanthropy has led her to not only work for the public, private, nonprofit and education sectors, but also to volunteer with a variety of organizations dedicated to advancing education and services for vulnerable and underserved populations. During her more than 15 years of service, she has have developed expertise on early and elementary education as well as poverty, homelessness, and faith-based services dedicated to alleviating human suffering. Karen currently serves as a Program Officer in the Planning & Development department at First 5 Los Angeles. She is a credentialed State of California Elementary Teacher, holds a Master’s in Journalism from Columbia University, and a Bachelor’s in Liberal Arts from Sarah Lawrence College. |
