GrowingGreat's mission is to inspire children and adults to adopt healthy eating habits through innovative classroom nutrition lessons, school gardens and community events. 

GrowingGreat creates a collaborative environment that helps children and communities reconnect with healthy food and make lifelong lifestyle changes.  Each year over 150 volunteers deliver GrowingGreat's programs, working within schools, homes, and communities.

Founded in 1999, GrowingGreat has reached over 30,000 students and families since its inception, and Founder Marika Bergsund is now a recognized expert and early pioneer in school garden programs.  Today, GrowingGreat serves over seven school districts, 21 schools, and 8,000 students in Los Angeles County, with additional programs in Marin City and Ojai, CA, and Oahu, Hawai’i. GrowingGreat's annual Healthy Living Festival attracts over 4,000 community members annually.

LASVP is assisting GrowingGreat in a variety of areas, including strategic planning, marketing and communications, technology infrastructure, strategic patnerships, and external relations.
