The Social Innovation Fast Pitch and Showcase will identify, reward, and celebrate innovative nonprofits in the Greater Los Angeles area that demonstrate significant potential for impact and social problem-solving. It will also serve as a catalyst to engage local business community support. The “Fast Pitch” competition is a high-energy, fast-moving, and entertaining presentation event, where 10 social entrepreneurs will share the mission, vision, promise, and model of their organization with a large audience and a panel of judges – each in under three minutes. Education, homelessness, long-term care for seniors, and persons living with disabilities are some of the challenges these entrepreneurs will address during their pitches.
Keynote Speaker: Jonathan Greenblatt, co-founder of Ethos Water, and CEO of GOOD
Social Innovation Panelists: Jonathan Greenblatt; Krisztina “Z” Holly, USC Vice Provost for Innovation; Mark Van Ness, Founder and Chairman of the Social Enterprise Institute; and Adlai Wertman, USC Professor, Marshall School of Business. Ellen Sloan, of Bank of America and LASVP, will moderate.
Fast Pitch presenting organizations: These organizations were selected for their innovative approaches for creating social change and their ability to powerfully communicate their vision. They have spent the past four weeks working with over two dozen business leaders to help them hone their messages and strategies, and will compete for a total of $20,000 in funding.
Additional Showcase organizations:
Following the formal program, there will be a mixer where attendees can interact and network with the presenting organizations to learn more about their mission, needs, and opportunities for support and engagement. This event is an excellent time to build awareness and visibility for local nonprofits making an impact, as well as contribute to the vibrancy and innovative culture in Los Angeles.
